Poker Training Sites: Cardrunners

In the previous article, I taught you about GrinderSchool, a training site that produces poker videos for beginner players trying out US poker rooms. Today's article will discuss Cardrunners, likely the most recognized and admired training site on the internet at the moment. The site was founded by Taylor Caby and Andrew Wiggins, and they partnered with Full Tilt back in 2008. The site offers a wide selection of online poker videos for low stakes, nosebleed stakes, and everything in between.
When you sign up for Cardrunners, you’ll be able to have a few free poker videos, but you’ll need to pay a membership fee to view the best content. You might find the fees a bit high, especially if you’re a low stakes player, because first there is a $100 sign up fee, and then you must pay $30 per month to keep accessing the site. Serious players will learn that all the fees are actually a bargain given what’s received in return. Today there are more than 1800 videos available for streaming and download, and each week a minimum of seven new ones are released.
Like we saw with GrinderSchool a couple weeks ago, the strength of Cardrunners is in their cash game coverage. There is an amazing choice of videos for No Limit Holdem 6-max since it’s become the most popular form of poker, and choices for Full Ring games have widened since a couple years ago. If you prefer Texas Hold Em hands in Heads-Up or Limit games, you’ll also have a very good selection of videos to view.
If you’re a Sit-N-Go player or if you prefer Rush Poker tournaments, Cardrunners might not be the absolute best choice since their specialty is definitely ring games. I’m not saying that the tournament videos are bad – the selection is still better than most sites, and they cover pretty much every buy-in. For those that play both cash and tournaments, Cardrunners is the best way to go as they still make a lot of videos for tournaments and SNGs to go with their first class cash game selection.
If you’re into Rush Poker Omaha and you’re looking for some Omaha videos, Cardrunners offers some of the most useful videos out of all the training sites out there. You’ll find it’s the same for other types of poker like HORSE or Stud. It’s impossible to find a site that has a selection that can compare to that of Hold Em, but you’re not going to find better than Cardrunners for these games right now.
Once you’ve gotten some good practice with real money poker sites, Cardrunners is a fabulous way to go if you’re willing to pay for some really good poker videos. It is definitely the number one way to go for ring game enthusiasts, and if you want to learn a bit about tournaments, you’ll have a lot to choose from for that, too. When it comes down to it, you can’t go wrong with putting your money into a Cardrunners membership.
